Pianist Leif Ove Andsnes performs at Carnegie Hall in a program that includes music by Haydn, Bartók, Debussy, and Chopin.
Four composers who challenged the technical and musical possibilities inherent in the piano are represented in the program. From Haydn's Classical-era expansion of the sonata to Bartók's use of Hungarian folk song idioms, with additional excursions to the Impressionism of Debussy and a robust exploration of the groundbreaking works of Chopin.
