On Monday, June 13, 99.5 All Classical brought you the opening concert of the 2011 Boston Early Music Festival, live from New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall. The Canadian ensemble Les Voix Baroques performed Canticum Cantorum, a program based on The Song of Songs. Now you can hear the concert on demand. Just click on "Listen" above.
The Song of Songs has inspired many composers over the centuries. Stephen Stubbs leads Les Voix Baroques in an exploration of several interpretations, including those by Monteverdi, Schütz, Charpentier, Purcell, and more.

I wonder if the broadcast cut attendance at Jordan Hall? I attended & saw many many empty seats.

Thank you for broadcasting a beautiful concert! Just like Stephen Stubbs hoped, it built wonderfully to the spectacular concluding Purcell. A great way to get people excited about this year's BEMF.
