Since 2001, when she was the Gold Medal Winner at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Olga Kern has been a force on the concert stage. With a particularly strong voice in the music of her Russian homeland, she and violinist Vladimir Spivakov preview their Feb. 17 concert at Sanders Theatre in Cambridge, Mass. Spivakov has been a soloist and conductor of international stature for over thirty years. He is the artistic director and principal conductor of the National Philharmonic of Russia and has been president of the Moscow Performing Arts Centre since 2003. Spivakov founded the Moscow Virtuosi in 1979 and has been its artistic director ever since.

He also founded the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation in May 1994 with the goals of assisting young people gifted in music and arts in the development of their talents and in the organization of their creative process in Russia and abroad; preserving and developing cultural values and traditions and providing comprehensive charity support. Kern performs works by Liszt, Lisberg, and Rachmaninoff, and Spivakov joins her for a work by Schubert.
