BOSTON -- House Speaker Robert Deleo says casinos are on the agenda in the upcoming legislative session.
A casino bill failed in the final moments of the last session when Gov. Deval Patrick refused to sign it. This time, DeLeo says, he plans to introduce the bill early on, so he and the governor have more time to negotiate.
“Hopefully, within the two year cycle, if we could it take up earlier, if there’s a will by the membership to take it up earlier, then hopefully we’ll have more time to talk and hopefully work out our differences,” DeLeo said.
Deleo says his other priorities include balancing the budget, bringing down the cost of health care and reforming the state probation department.
