African Americans on Television - 1972
In this excerpt from a 1972 interview with FCC Commissioner Benjamin Hooks, he talks about black people on television. He says that in most cities there are many more black employees at television stations than in print media. "Starting from zero, it's easy to hire the first one or two blacks. The real problem comes as we try to continue the upward mobile of black people and other minorities in the television industry."
