Beth Kirsch, Series Producer, Between the Lions

 

carol greenwaldAs Series Producer for the Emmy award-winning PBS series Between the Lions, Ms. Kirsch works with the production team to develop the content of the episodes, and oversees the animation along with other key show elements. She works with the program’s national advisory board to ensure that core curriculum content is embedded in the television programs. She is the recipient of three national Emmy Awards for her contributions to Between the Lions, one for Outstanding Pre-school Children’s Series and two for Outstanding Writing in a Children’s Series. Ms. Kirsch has also developed and launched several Between the Lions literacy initiatives aimed at improving children’s reading skills, in Mississippi, New Mexico, and Massachusetts.

Prior to her work on Between the Lions, Ms. Kirsch served as Director of Educational Outreach at WGBH, conceptualizing and managing national and local outreach projects that encourage the use of public television for formal and informal learning. Under her direction, the department received many outreach and publishing awards, including Distinguished Achievement Awards for Excellence from the Educational Press Association of America and Clarion Awards from the Association for Women in Communications.
