BRANCHING OUT—Reporter Andrea Smarden visits the town of Palmer, MA, where Connecticut's Mohegan Sun casino owners have opened an office in anticipation of expansion opportunities. Advocates and opponents of the idea have organized lobbying groups and recruited neighboring towns to either oppose the casino or get a piece of the pie.

HOPING FOR A MIRACLE
—With its out-of-the-way location and double-digit unemployment, the southeastern section of Massachusetts is considered by locals tp be a forgotten area of the state. As lawmakers debate hosting only two casinos in the state, concerns are growing that southeastern Massachusetts could, once again, be forgotten.

THE WONDER IN WONDERLAND—In 2008, Massachusetts voters approved a referendum ending decades of dog racing in the state. For some it was the end of a 75 year tradition; for others, the end to an inhumane sport. Nearly 1200 jobs were lost. Now many of these same men and women are banking on passage of the gaming bill to bring slot machines and new jobs to under-used dog and horse racing facilities. Reporter Phillip Martin visited the famous track in Revere where many are hoping to put the wonder back in Wonderland.
