I write to express my extreme dissatisfacton with GBH and NPR in regards providing air time to scratchyvoiced radio "journalists". In case you have not notiiced, this unfortunate trend began with women. Todays Apr 26 energy piece shows that men with the same bad habits are also being allowed on the air. Guttural speech is irritating, annoying, disrespectful, insulting, impolite, and unprofessional. It seriously detracts attention from the content. It says that the speaker considers her/himself to be the most important ingredient in the piece. Guttural speech is also a learned activity that requires a lot of practice to undo, unless, of course, the speaker and producer are deliberately manufacturing scratchiness to turnoff your listeners who obviously prefer decent broadcast voices, or for some other misguided effect. You should require your offending practitioners and aspirants, mail and female, to relearn proper use of the throat in public speech before allowing them airtime. Meanwhile, keep them silent. Monday at about 543 pm you announced how web dating was quickly becoming the most common form of meeting a "romantic partner". You added the lower numbers of hispanics dating online as a probable result of fewer hispanic computer users. Although I am greatly impressed you feel comfortably in tune to other cultures to make fromthehip general assumptions on air about them, I write this comment to provide a closer hypothesis to the topic of online dating Online dating to the oldschool hispanic community is like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It would be great to make such a discovery, but as you grow up you realize it is just a tale. People have turned the majic and pulse of facetoface dating into an online application for a mortgage. Sure you can get all the terms and conditions in writing, but you dont have a clue as to what kind of person you are "meeting" until you get close enough to hear the cadence of their step, smell their skin as you lean for the first peck on the cheek, and look into her eyes as she tells you all about herself. Only as you try to make all these mental notes while yourself being jittery, nervous and clumsy with words do you get a true sense of the humanity. As a hispanic man with my last name, it was one of my most defining teachings to become proficient in meeting new people, especially women in the real world. Of equal importance I was taught to leave great impressions wherever I went. As an adult professional, of upmost value is how I learned to judge a persons character. Ultimately, as a father, I find it just as important to teach my son these same skills. I believe it would be a major fehler to my son to have to go online to find a good woman when he becomes ready to find a soul. Thank you for your time.

Kelly Bates observations on how natural born citizenship makes things easier for students to secure enrollment and financial help to attend school here in Massachusetts is as slanted a viewpoint as I have heard. Rather than guilttripping the entire native populace, maybe a little responsibility for the childs unenviable situation should fall on the parent(s) who felt it was too tough to apply for citizenship. For the child I have only sympathy. For the illegal immigrant parent disdain. I have money for neither.

In regards to your story on the Las Vegas Mayor and others who were "offended" by the Presidents comment on not going to Vegas when you cant afford it, I think they are really grasping at straws and need to look at the comment in context. He never said Dont go to Vegas, but rather inferred that if you cant afford your mortgage, then you shouldnt plan that trip to the city of excess. If you have the money go! If not, be practical. Vegas will always be there, but the roof over your head may not.
