Masaaki Suzuki, the founder and artistic director of Bach Collegium Japan, has become one of the foremost interpreters of the music of J.S. Bach. The Collegium's recordings of Bach's sacred cantatas on the BIS label are known for their intimacy, warmth, and lyricism while maintaining the music's energy and intensity. In February 2003, while in Boston to perform a concert presented by the Boston Early Music Festival, Suzuki spoke with WGBH's Alan McLellan.
