I found this segment troubling as a citizen and as a WGBH supporter. Mr. DiMasi was convicted through due process of a violation of the public trust for personal gain. Giving his wife a forum for parsing Massachusetts vs. Federal ethics codes seems rather bizarre. This is an example of the celebrity culture, where celebrity elites get special treatment by the media. DiMasis wife showed the same cold lack of remorse for having disappointed the public trust. Unfortunate. As for her portrayal of herself as the struggling prison widow, it begs credulity. It seems logical to speculate that the crime that was caught was simply one failure of covering up corruption by DiMasi. The recent conviction of exSenator Tully, for example, a man in his 80s, should cause an intelligent person to question how many decades many politicians abuse power before they mess up and get caught. The sad fact is that not enough of them do get caught. And, when they do, it is not a time to paint them as hapless victims in the media.
