The other funny thing the Lawyer said was that "it goes both ways" and that both the exwifes new domestic partners, and the exhusbands new domestic partners situations should be considered. Why would society want to "marry" these 4 people to each other? Why should one couple be forced to provide for or subsidize the lifestyle of another couple? Does divorce really mean divorce, or do exspouses and their new life partners become some sort of extended foursome Hippy Commune of some sort?

Did anyone notice how the lawyer had NO argument about why a man shouldnt retire, or why a second spouses income should be counted? He actually tried to say that in some cases alimony is "underpaid" how can alimony for life be underpaid? He was clearly a divorce attorney who would be worried about his practice, NOT regular people. Slimeball.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, men accounted for 97% of alimony-payers last year. While alimony was originally intended to support moms who sacrificed career for family, critics say it creates a culture of dependency. Two bills in the Massachusetts legislature are aimed at reforming the state's alimony laws.
