This is one of the many Doctors quite limited in his knowledge of the drug Adderall. He is also bias as he proclaims himself as having ADD and therefore is probably taking the drug himself. Mike who was on your show has much more information and is much more informed about this drug than your Doctor. Anyone that wants to know more should talk to mike via his website. Its Doctors like that, that get people addicted to this drugs and others like pain killers. It all comes down to lack of knowledge and profit. The Doctors lack the knowledge and the Pill companies want to make a profit. When enough of us start running around shooting people then someone will make a connection...... its so hopeless.
Adderall has been used to treat ADD since 1995. But over the past year, one in four college students has taken the drug as a study aid, saying it cures procrastination and actually makes users more intelligent. But with the benefits, come deadly risks. Psychiatrist and ADD specialist Dr. Edward Hallowell joins Emily.
