Governor Deval Patrick announced today his plan to close a $600 million dollar budget deficit. The Governor is not cutting local aid to cities and towns. But the proposal calls for as many as 2000 layoffs, furloughs for non-union employees, a phase out of the Quinn Bill which boosts police pay based on education and eliminates Evacuation Day and Bunker Hill Day as paid holidays. Does it go far enough? Michael Widmer of the Mass Taxpayers Foundation and Noah Berger of the Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center join Emily.
