National Poetry Slam

Seventy six slam poetry teams from across the country will descend upon Boston next week for the 2011 National Poetry Slam, happening August 9 through the 13th.

Joining us is Simone Beaubien, a performance poet and Slam Master of the Boston Poetry Slam at the Cantab Lounge in Cambridge. She has competed in six National Poetry Slams, and is currently serving as the host city director of the 2011 National Poetry Slam. Also joining us is Brian S. Ellis, a performance poet and author from Boston who has represented Boston four times in the National Poetry Slam, and is now the coach of this year’s Boston Slam Team.
