All due respects to Norm, but Tommys show is very good in my opinion. Hes a different personality, and hes good at his craft. His tips and tricks are excellent. I especially liked the show on hand cut dovetails. I missed some of it because I was finishing a bathroom project here at home. Im anxious for the rerun. Now, his program is ended for the season, and has been replaced with a face Ive seen on PBS. Mine comes out of Tempe, AZ. I dont remember the name, probably because the show isnt memorable. He cant use a sliding miter saw, as he upcuts his wood faces. This same guy used a computerized carving machine, which most of us wouldnt use, if we really love wood. Whats the point in reproducing like a factory? He doesnt use a stop for same length cuts, but flushes with a finger and traces the length. I could see on the TV his lengths were off. His machine cut dovetails were off, also. Anyway, Tommys enthusiasm is contagious and I will watch anything hes involved in. He is wise beyond his years. This comes from a relatively old guy whose been working with wood since the 9th grade. Bring Tommy back.

hey guys all due respect to Tommy Mac but his rojects and methods will never match up to that as norm, come on someone has made a serious blunder here i have been a loyal follower of the newyankee workshop for almost 13 years however made this decision needs to get fired. as for roughcut woodworking based on just what i have seen so far there is far more talent and far better production on amature clips made by amature wood workers on you tube. you obviously dont realise the following the new yankee workshop had here in ireland you have upset an entire nation of wood workers. hopefully you will immeadiatly see the errors you have made.

rough cut logoWGBH is proud to introduce a fresh and modern woodworking series for public television. Rough Cut—Woodworking with Tommy Mac will premiere on public television stations in October 2010. The series invites viewers into the workshop of Boston native and fine furniture maker Tommy MacDonald, a graduate of the famed Boston-based North Bennet Street School.

Thirteen innovative episodes follow Tommy as he travels to historical New England landmarks to gain design inspiration, then returns to his workshop to demonstrate the steps and techniques it takes to create comprehensive woodworking projects.

In addition to providing detailed project instructions to his audience, Tommy shares his skills and best practices, giving the opportunity for anyone with an interest in woodworking to not only learn the basics but also excel at the craft. For those more experienced in woodworking, Tommy offers more advanced tips and techniques by showcasing his more complex projects.
