Outstanding Conversation! I have two connections to offer. First, on Prof. Painters next work We should all be mindful that Beauty is not equivalent to Attractiveness The 2D advertised image of beauty doesnt present a human interaction. So, lets remember we are going to have to experience the world, and pull together be attracted as humans to make it work! Second, Im hopeful that the barriers to entry for wealth generation are falling fast, and so the diversity of ideas that come form the most dynamic parts of society will prevail. I cant wait to read the book discussed today and the forthcoming work too. Keep it up!

Noted historian Nell Irvin Painter is a professor emerita at Princeton and the author of numerous books, including Sojouner Truth, A Life, A Symbol; Standing at Armageddon; and Southern History Across the Color Line.

Her latest book, The History of White People, was featured on The Colbert Report and received rave reviews in the US and England. In this conversation with Maria Hinojosa, Painter explains what drives her, how the idea of beauty has changed in America, and why she doesn’t believe race exists.
