It is readilyaudible that those in the studio are eating and laughing intermittently in the background/lower channels during your show this evening. Or so it sounds.

WGBH aired a story on 17 December regarding Pakistans contribution in the battle against the Taliban. The problem in this region of the world is based on the ISIs desire to control Afghanistan. It wants to ignore the 1885 Durand Line as the boundary between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The ISI raised up and supported Hekmatyar and his HizbeIslami, and when they failed to take Kabul during the Afghan Civil War, the ISI turned to Mullah Omar and the Taliban. Pakistan is a master of duplicity. It smiles and takes American funding, clears out some low level Pakistani Taliban, but is holding onto its relationship with the Afghan Taliban and al Qaida in the hopes that when the Americans finally do leave the country, it will have home grown forces to once again take the country as it nearly did before 9/11. Now that China is entering into an economic alliance with Pakistan, the ISI will step up its cross border incursions until enough American lives are lost that the public will scream for a withdrawal of all forces.

The brief story on Shirley Sherrod made at least one grievous error. It referred to comments "taken out of context" when in fact it was a deliberate misrepresentation of her statements for malintentioned purposes. To gloss over the intent of the source of this affair with the euphemism "taken out of context" is to miss one of the main aspects of this story.

The Feb 18 NewsHour presented a story about a a San Francisco engineer who has designed a durable wheelchairs for developing countries and is trying to get them to Haiti. According to the report, the chairs are being manufactured in Vietnam and Mexico. Too bad manufacturing isnt being setup in Haiti to put people to work building wheelchairs where they are desperately needed by the people crippled by the earthquake.
