Charitable remainder annuity trust

A charitable remainder annuity trust is a separately invested and managed charitable trust that pays you, your spouse, and/or other beneficiaries a fixed annuity income for life or for a term of years, after which the remainder is distributed to WGBH.

Funding an annuity trust

You receive a charitable income tax deduction for a portion of your gift to the trust. No additional gifts to an annuity trust are permitted. Your annuity trust can be funded with cash, appreciated stock, or real estate, and you will avoid all capital gains tax on any appreciated assets you donate. Charitable remainder annuity trusts can be established with a gift of $100,000 of cash or securities, or $150,000 for gifts of real estate.
